TIEMPO DE ANTICIPACIÓN: SASMEX considera como tiempo de oportunidad, el intervalo de tiempo entre el momento que la población escucha el sonido oficial de alerta sísmica, y el momento en que el sismo llega a la localidad alertada en las fases sísmicas de mayor intensidad. Proporciona desde 20 hasta 120 segundos de tiempo de oportunidad aproximadamente. Este tiempo de anticipación dependerá de la distancia entre el sitio donde inicie el sismo y la ubicación del usuario a alertar. Por ejemplo, si ocurriera un sismo en la costa de Michoacán, se tendría un tiempo de oportunidad de más de 100 segundos para la Ciudad de México; pero, ciudades próximas al origen del temblor, tendrán tiempos menores.
